About

Christine Joo is a Washington State licensed psychologist with over two decades of clinical experience since 2003. She holds a Doctor of Education degree in Counseling Psychology and a Master of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling.
Her career experience has been in various settings, such as community mental health agencies, psychiatric units, emergency rooms, and research positions during her graduate studies. She has been in private practice since 2009. With expertise in psychological testing, trauma-related disorders, and the treatment for chronic pain, she is committed to providing competent care, as well as specializing in treating Asian and Pacific Islander populations.

Christine is dedicated to offering comprehensive psychological evaluations, seeing
them as vital tools for her clients to gain a deeper self-understanding and acceptance. It brings her immense joy to see her clients gain deeper insights of themselves and develop greater self-accept through the process of evaluation. ​​

Her therapeutic approach bases on building trusting, interactive, and collaborative relationships with clients.
At the core of her work are warmth, compassion, genuine empathy, and unconditional acceptance. Her therapeutic approach is rooted in the belief that true learning and growth require individuals to feel safe and understood without judgment, but with curiosity. ​​Various methods such as, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and elements of Psychoanalytic theory are applied in her therapy work. Additionally, Christine highly values educating her clients about the neurobiological bases of human behaviors and often shares the latest research findings relevant to the clients' needs. In her 20 plus years of clinical experience, she successfully diagnosed and treated her clients struggling with various challenges due to life transitions, depression, loss, anxiety, trauma, phobia, relationship difficulties, identity development, ethnic minority issues, women's issues, undiagnosed neurodevelopmental diagnoses (ASD, ADHD) and so much more.

As a 2nd generation Korean Canadian American, and Asian & Pacific Islander specialist, Christine is committed to providing culturally sensitive and accurate therapy & evaluations. As another minority who personally and professionally understands the profound impact of culture on every aspect of life, she is passionate about working with people of diverse backgrounds.

Christine wholeheartedly believes in the transformative power of therapy and supports her clients to increase their resilience and acceptance towards life's continuous changes.
